We, in the United States, pay more for healthcare than comparably developed nations and yet often have worse health outcomes. Other countries have very different systems of paying for health care. We have options for change. This 66-minute film compares the US experiences attempting to legislate a comprehensive single payer health care system with the Canadian experience. Contrary to what many Americans think it is not a government run healthcare service. AS the film makes clear, it is a socialized financing system, while just like in the US, care is delivered through a variety of private practices and public clinics, as well as community, church-related, and university related hospitals. Watch the film and learn the truth!
Following the film Representatives from Health Care for All Oregon will be present for questions and answers. It is the mission of HCAO to create a comprehensive, equitable, affordable, publicly funded, high quality, universal health care system serving everyone in Oregon and eventually all of the US.
