Medford Community Forum on Climate, GMOs and the TPP

Excitement is building as environmental activists across the state take on efforts to combat climate change and the spread of GMOs. At the same time trade negotiators are meeting behind closed doors to craft an mammoth international free trade agreement that could jeopardize our efforts to protect our planet from climate change and our right to know if the food we feed our families is GMO.
The Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) is a highly secretive and expansive free trade agreement, currently under negotiation, that would affect almost every aspect of our lives including the food we eat, the water we drink, and the air we breath.
The TPP would empower multinational corporations to directly sue governments over legislation designed to address climate change, curb fossil fuel expansion, reduce air pollution, ban GMOs or consumer labeling. If the TPP moves forward, our hard won victories could be under attack by corporations seeking ever more profits at the expense of people and the planet.
